“Hemp, Wonder Plant” and “Earthship Homes”: 2 talks you won’t want to miss.


Sunday 29 May, 2.30 p.m. at the Visitor Centre, Narara Ecovillage, Research Road, Narara.

Each month the Narara Eco Living Network (the outreach and educational arm of the Narara Ecovillage) invites a speaker or speakers to give a talk on a sustainability topic. The talk follows on from the monthly Open Day at the Village, which includes a short walking tour and a presentation.

The May Open Day runs from 10.30 am. to 2 p.m. and includes a site tour and presentation, and a Community Lunch (bring something to share) and then talks by Alex Impey (of the Hemp Store) and Dani Wolff-Chambers (from the Agari Permaculture Farm) from 2.30 p.m.

Alex Impey; “Hemp, Wonder Plant: hempcrete, and everything else”.

Alex Impey is an entrepreneALEX IMPEY -APRIL 2014ur, activist and environmentalist. He has been involved in the international hemp & cannabis industry for

the past 8 years. Alex previously  worked with Europe’s largest grower and producer of hemp seed food products, With a passion to make a positive change in Australia, Alex headed back home to the Central Coast of NSW where he now owns & runs Australia’s largest online hemp outlet, the Hemp Store, which offers a diverse range of clothing, body and food products all made from hemp. He has a retail showroom in Woy Woy.

Dani Wolff-Chambers – Version 2Dani Wolff-Chambers

Dani is an interior designer and drafts(wo)man from the Agari Permaculture farm in Victoria. She studied Earthships in New Mexico and along with her passion for building loves to help people with natural health and nutrition. More info here.

Ecovillage member Candy recently attended a 3 week workshop in Tasmania to build an Earthship home. Candy writes: “Dani is the one who puts together the workshops. She’s got a great team that I thought gave us a thorough understanding, empowering and hands on experience of building an Earthship. They have lots of experience in other natural building. Dani has worked on many council approved builds and can give us some insight into planning requirements.

The talks and Open Days are free to members of the Narara Ecovillage Co-operative and of the Narara Eco Living Network. You can join the Network on the day for $20 (individual) or $40 (family), and then attend all Open Days and talks for 12 months at no cost.

If you are not a member of either of these, attendance at any time on the Open Day costs $10 (individual) or $20 (family).

You do not need to register for these events.
